MobiKwik has appointed Rajat Bansal as Senior Director and Head of Talent Acquisition, strengthening its people leadership at a time when fintech companies are reworking their hiring priorities. The appointment was announced in December 2025 and has been reported by People Matters.
Bansal confirmed his move through a LinkedIn post, stating that he has taken charge of the talent acquisition function at the digital payments company.
In his new position, Bansal will be responsible for leading MobiKwik’s talent acquisition strategy, workforce planning, and hiring operations across functions. His mandate includes overseeing recruitment for both business and technology roles and ensuring that hiring priorities are aligned with organisational requirements.
MobiKwik, operated by One MobiKwik Systems Limited, is a consumer and merchant-focused digital payments platform offering wallet services, UPI payments, credit products, and financial services. The company serves a large user base across India and works with merchants across online and offline channels. Talent acquisition plays a crucial role in supporting these operations, given the scale and scope of the functions involved.
Rajat Bansal brings over two decades of experience in talent acquisition and workforce leadership across technology-driven organisations. Prior to joining MobiKwik, he served as Head of Talent Acquisition at Freecharge, where he led recruitment efforts across business, product, and technology teams.
At Freecharge, his responsibilities included managing hiring volumes, building recruitment processes, and supporting workforce requirements in a payments-led business environment. The role involved close coordination with business leaders to support staffing needs across core and support functions.
Before Freecharge, Bansal held senior talent acquisition and HR leadership roles at Tata 1mg, Damco Solutions, and Quovantis Technologies. These roles gave him exposure to consumer-facing digital platforms as well as enterprise technology and consulting organisations. Across these companies, he worked on recruitment strategy, hiring operations, and team leadership in growing organisations.
Earlier in his career, Bansal also worked with ResourceChip Consulting, adding consulting experience to his background in in-house talent functions. His professional experience spans technology services, digital platforms, and scale-up environments, with a consistent focus on building hiring capability and managing recruitment delivery.
The appointment comes at a time when fintech companies in India are adjusting their hiring approaches after several years of rapid workforce expansion. Industry reporting indicates that companies are placing more emphasis on structured hiring, workforce planning, and productivity-linked recruitment rather than aggressive headcount growth.
For digital payments and financial services firms, talent acquisition remains closely tied to business execution. Core roles continue to span engineering, product development, data, operations, risk, and customer support. Managing hiring across these functions requires coordination between business teams and recruitment leadership.
At MobiKwik, the talent acquisition function supports a mix of technology, operations, and business roles across its payments and financial services offerings. Strengthening leadership at this level allows the company to manage hiring volumes, prioritise critical roles, and maintain consistency in recruitment processes.
People Matters reporting notes that Bansal’s role includes shaping hiring strategy, strengthening talent pipelines, and aligning recruitment priorities with the company’s business roadmap. These responsibilities sit within the broader HR and people operations framework and focus on execution rather than expansion-led hiring.
As competition continues across India’s fintech sector, companies are competing for experienced professionals while also managing costs and operational efficiency. Talent acquisition leaders are expected to balance hiring needs with realistic workforce planning and delivery timelines.
Within this context, Bansal’s appointment places responsibility for MobiKwik’s hiring operations under an experienced talent leader with prior exposure to payments and digital businesses. The role is positioned as an operational leadership function supporting the company’s ongoing workforce requirements.
