Jindal Stainless has launched a nine-month HR Competency Development Programme in collaboration with the Xavier School of Management (XLRI), aiming to strengthen the company’s human resources function as it expands both in India and overseas. The programme is designed to equip HR professionals with the skills needed to manage workforce growth, lead organisational initiatives, and support the company’s operational strategy.
The programme will bring together 25 HR professionals from Jindal Stainless’s corporate and manufacturing units. It blends academic learning with practical application, combining online sessions with in-person workshops. By partnering with XLRI, the company seeks to provide its HR team with a structured development path that goes beyond traditional training.
Over nine months, participants will engage in 19 interactive sessions and five in-person learning modules, alongside internal projects that allow them to apply their learning directly to organisational challenges. The curriculum covers eight core areas: business acumen, stakeholder management, culture building, strategic thinking, data analytics, design thinking, problem-solving, and change management.
The approach emphasises applying HR knowledge in practical contexts, helping professionals contribute to business decisions, improve processes, and support organisational change. By focusing on these competencies, the programme aims to transform the HR function into a more proactive and strategic part of the business.
Jindal Stainless, one of India’s largest stainless steel manufacturers, operates 16 facilities across India and abroad, including sites in Spain and Indonesia, with a presence in 12 countries worldwide. The company reported ₹40,182 crore ($4.75 billion) in revenue in FY25 and is expanding its capacity to 4.2 million tonnes of annual melt by FY27.
Managing Director Abhyuday Jindal said that the initiative reflects the company’s focus on building internal leadership capabilities as it scales operations. “Our people are central to our growth, and preparing HR teams to lead change is key to sustaining performance across our expanding footprint,” he said.
Chief Human Resources Officer Sushil Baveja added that the programme will help HR teams develop the analytical and business skills required to act as strategic partners within the company. As Jindal Stainless grows, HR professionals will play a critical role in workforce planning, performance management, and aligning people practices with business objectives.
By investing in structured learning for HR, Jindal Stainless is not only enhancing individual competencies but also reinforcing its capacity to manage organisational complexity, support leadership development, and maintain employee engagement across a growing global workforce.
