Healthcare major Cigna Healthcare has appointed Anisha Vaz as Head of Human Resources for India, as the company strengthens its leadership team amid expanding operations and workforce transformation initiatives in the country.

In her new role, Vaz will lead the company’s India HR strategy, overseeing talent management, organisational development, employee experience and workforce transformation programmes aligned with Cigna Healthcare’s long-term growth plans.

The appointment comes at a time when multinational healthcare and insurance firms are scaling their India-based operations, particularly across engineering, digital platforms, analytics and AI-driven business functions.

According to the company, Vaz will play a key role in building people and culture strategies designed to support operational growth and organisational agility across India operations.

Her responsibilities will include leading initiatives in talent management, employee engagement, workforce planning and organisational effectiveness.

Vaz brings more than two decades of experience in human resources, people operations and strategic business partnering across the healthcare, technology and shared services sectors.

Before joining Cigna Healthcare, she held senior HR leadership roles at Optum, where she worked on talent strategy, workforce planning, employee engagement and organisational transformation initiatives.

Over the course of her career, she has led multiple programmes focused on culture building, HR modernisation and capability development, reflecting a broader industry shift toward digitally enabled and transformation-focused HR leadership.

The appointment also highlights India’s growing importance within the global operating models of multinational healthcare companies, many of which are increasingly expanding their global capability centres and technology teams in the country.

Over the past few years, healthcare enterprises have accelerated investments in India across areas such as digital operations, engineering support, AI, analytics and shared services, as organisations look to build scalable and future-ready operating models.

The healthcare sector has also undergone significant workforce transformation since the pandemic, prompting companies to focus more heavily on employee wellbeing, leadership development and workforce modernisation.

As companies continue to integrate AI and automation into healthcare operations, HR leaders are expected to play a central role in balancing workforce expansion with organisational culture, agility and long-term talent development.
